Recirculating water in cooling towers can cause scale and corrosion of system. These problems reduce heat transfer efficiency, increase pumping costs, increase maintenance time and rrepair costs. Tower makeup water that is low in hardness and alkalinity is less.likely to fomi scale.but will corrode system metals. An effective cooling water treatment must therefore prevent both scale and corrosion. Multreat MZ represents a“state-of-the-art” cooling water treatment.,” Multreat MZ works well with or without acid feed for alkalinity control. Corrosion is inhibited by a synergistic combination of molybdate, zinc, and an azole corrosion inhibitor which act together to form a passive film on the metal surfaces. Scaling tendencies are greatly reduced by addition of a stable, chlorine resistant, organic phosphonate.
